Appendix A of the ISAO 100-2: Guidelines for Establishing an ISAO document introduces a list of several services and capabilities—categorized as Foundational, Advanced, or Unique—that an Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (ISAO) may perform as baseline offerings. This document, ISAO 200-1: Foundational Services and Capabilities, is intended to assist ISAOs by providing a more in-depth review of the foundational services and capabilities an ISAO could choose to provide to its members, including collection and dissemination, facilitating member sharing, analyzing information, and surveying members. This in turn gives ISAOs a better understanding of how they can operationalize the technical, analytical and personnel capabilities that are built around their services to better meet the needs of their members.
The structure of this document is framed to begin with the simpler capabilities and services and then to progress to those that are more challenging. This will facilitate a natural progression for ISAOs that are further along in their evolution to navigate to the area within the document that is appropriate for their current situation.
